About the role
Forterra is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Junior Cost Accountant to join our finance team. This role will support cost analysis, budgeting, and financial reporting processes. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in accounting principles, strong analytical skills, and a willingness to learn in a fast-paced environment
What you'll do
Assist in analyzing production costs, including materials, labor, and overhead
Prepare and maintain cost reports and financial records
Support inventory valuation and reconciliation processes
Monitor and track cost variances and investigate discrepancies
Assist with budgeting and forecasting activities
Participate in month-end and year-end closing processes
Ensure compliance with company policies and accounting standards
Collaborate with operations and finance teams to improve cost efficiency
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
Basic understanding of cost accounting principles and financial reporting
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (e.g., formulas, pivot tables)
Familiarity with accounting software or ERP systems is a plus
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
Good written and verbal communication skill
Preferred Qualifications
Internship or coursework related to cost accounting or manufacturing accounting
Knowledge of standard costing and variance analysis
Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
Education & Experience
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
Salary Range
US Salary Range
$65,000.00—$75,000.00
