Job Summary
The Sterile Processing Technician II is a certified technician whose responsibilities include decontaminating, assembling, sterilizing, storing, and distributing surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment according to established standards and guidelines. The SP Tech II demonstrates personal and professional effectiveness when working in an indirect patient care department and addressing the requests of customers or providers.
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
High School Diploma or GED
Central Service Technology Course/Or Equivalent Work Experience:
at least one year experience in central sterile processing
License & Certifications:
Hold one of the following certifications or obtain within one year of hire: CRCST, CSPDT, or CBSPD
Work Experience:
One (1) year of Central Sterile Processing experience required.
Communication Skills:
Above Average Verbal (Heavy Public Contact), Bilingual skills preferred, Writing/Reports: Legible handwriting and coherent writing
Other Skills:
Knowledge of surgical and medical terminology, critical thinking, ability to multitask in a fast‑paced environment, ability to lead projects, monitor and interpret results of gauges, and research surgical instruments and supply companies; PC skills as required for the job.
Work Schedule:
Weekends, holidays, flexible, on call
Equipment Operated:
Sterilization equipment, decontamination equipment, computer/printer, elevator system, scope disinfector, heat sealer, incubators, barcode scanners, computer software, temperature monitors, equipment gauges, visual screen monitors, digital camera, and inter‑department paging system
