Job Description Summary

The Medical University of South Carolina, Department of Otolaryngology, invites applications for a full-time audiologist focusing on cochlear implants. Candidates must possess a doctoral degree (AuD and/or PhD), clinical and academic experience with cochlear implants, hearing aids, and appropriate certification and licensure. MUSC provides care for more than 2000 patients with cochlear implants and implants more than 200 devices yearly. In addition, we have active NIH‑funded hearing and cochlear implant research programs.
The Department of Otolaryngology includes six Otologists, six Pediatric Otolaryngologists, and 23 audiologists. Cochlear implant and hearing aid services are provided at the main campus of MUSC in downtown Charleston and satellite locations.
Responsibilities

Provide diagnostic and therapeutic audiology services for the cochlear implant and hearing aid programs, including:
Evaluations and cochlear implant candidacy determination
Intra‑operative testing
Post‑operative programming
Participation and management of cochlear implant research (data collection, analysis, and recruitment)
Teaching Otolaryngology residents and supervising AuD students
Salary is dependent on a candidate’s qualifications.

Ability to maintain 20/40 vision, corrected, in one eye or in both eyes. (Continuous)
Ability to see and recognize objects close at hand. (Frequent)
Ability to see and recognize objects at a distance. (Frequent)
Ability to determine distance/relationship between objects; depth perception. (Continuous)
Good peripheral vision capabilities. (Continuous)
Ability to maintain hearing acuity, with correction. (Continuous)
