Requisition Summary:
We are looking for electrical engineers with an interest in supporting design development for autonomous vehicle product power distribution and vehicle controls design development integration. Scope of work includes project definition, mature ideas through concept development, final design development, validation planning, testing support and launching product into production by applying standard engineering techniques with degree of supervision varying with experience. Hiring level will be commensurate with experience and skills.
Job Responsibilities
Participate in the development of an Automated Driving System (ADS) Level 4 Autonomous Vehicle Platform (AVP) including power distribution system, electrical architecture integration and harness design.
Design and release of electrical and electronic ADS related components and systems for heavy duty commercial vehicles.
Develop technical requirement specifications for redundant power distribution and other ADS related components.
IntegrateADSrelated electrical/electronic features/requirements into Peterbilt/PACCARvehicles.
As part of a new product development team, perform the design and development of assigned elements of wiring harnesses, system level schematics, and other embedded electronic control modules.
Manage engineering and project management processes to maintain schedule, budget, and functionality.
Plan and track validation testing of components.
Support product launch at vehicle assembly plants.
Ensure industry leading quality and reliability is met/maintained/exceeded on all components.
Provide interface documentation to wiring design, system architect(s), and mechanical design group.
Contribute to development of procedures and practices that ensure quality and reliable electric/electronic systems.
Complete engineering change notice documentation to manage old and new parts and use proprietary software to issue part bid requests.
Initial packaging/space claim studies of AVP components/systems.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field is required.
5+ years of relevant experience
New graduate to experienced level candidates are encouraged to apply.
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of DC power distribution, management, protection, fusing, and routing systems.
Knowledge of DC power storage, conversion, and generation related to low voltage power systems.
Knowledge of and/or experience in heavy truck assembly, components, troubleshooting and electrical systemspreferred.
Knowledge of and/or experience troubleshooting heavy truck electrical systems.
Experience developing vehiclesystems is a plus.
Excellent interpersonal skills are required.
Handles multiple tasks, takes initiative, team player, problem-solver, professional and effective communication skills (written and verbal) is required.
Willing to learn and use new engineering processes and techniques and be resourceful in solving complex technical problems.
Strong working knowledge of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Experience using Pro-E or other 3D CAD software and Mentor Graphics will be given preference.
Previous design experience of parts and assemblies will be given preference.
Proficiency using Requirements Management tools, Systems Engineering tools, or also desired.
New graduate to experienced level candidates are encouraged to apply.
