Job Description - Epic Automation Engineer
The Epic Automation Engineer is responsible for building and maintaining automated workflows, monitoring solutions, and system integrations that support Epic operational excellence. This role partners with Epic application, infrastructure, security, and service management teams to automate repeatable processes, improve observability, and streamline incident and compliance workflows.
Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, and maintain
automation solutions
supporting Epic systems, infrastructure, and operations, including scripting, scheduling, and orchestration.
Build
automated monitoring and dashboards
to track Epic system health, performance, and operational KPIs.
Integrate Epic monitoring and alerting with
ServiceNow
to automate incident creation, routing, and tracking.
Develop and maintain
log analysis, alerting, and anomaly detection
using enterprise monitoring tools (e.g., Splunk, AppDynamics).
Automate
compliance, security, and audit checks , generating actionable alerts and audit-ready reports.
Reduce manual operational effort by automating routine tasks such as health checks, validation steps, and data collection.
Partner with Epic application teams (e.g., Client Systems, ODBA, Cogito) to identify automation opportunities and implement scalable solutions.
Support Epic upgrades, migrations, and environment changes by building automation to validate readiness and post-change health.
Document automation solutions, runbooks, and operational standards.
Required Qualifications
5+ years Experience integrating monitoring and alerting tools with
IT service management platforms
(e.g., ServiceNow).
Experience supporting or integrating with
Epic systems or other healthcare platforms .
Experience building
automation and scripting solutions
(e.g., PowerShell, Python, Bash, or equivalent).
Strong understanding of
enterprise system monitoring, logging, and alerting
concepts.
Ability to troubleshoot complex, cross-system operational issues.
Strong collaboration and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience automating
Epic operational workflows
or healthcare IT platforms.
Familiarity with
Splunk, AppDynamics , or similar monitoring tools.
Experience with
compliance or audit automation
in regulated environments.
Knowledge of
infrastructure, networking, or database platforms
supporting Epic.
Epic certification or formal Epic training.

The typical pay range for this role is:
$83,430.00 - $222,480.00
This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.
