
MEP Coordinator

The MEP Coordinator supports the planning, coordination, and execution of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems on construction projects. This role is responsible for assisting in the integration of MEP systems into the overall project while working closely with project management, field teams, subcontractors, and design partners. The ideal candidate has foundational MEP knowledge and is capable of managing coordination tasks with moderate oversight.
Key Responsibilities
Assist in the coordination of MEP systems from design through installation and turnover
Review construction documents, drawings, and specifications to identify conflicts and coordination needs
Support MEP coordination meetings with subcontractors, engineers, and internal teams
Track and help resolve clashes, RFIs, and coordination issues across disciplines
Work with field teams to ensure installations align with coordinated drawings and project requirements
Assist in maintaining MEP schedules, procurement tracking, and installation sequencing
Support quality control efforts, including inspections and verification of installed systems
Coordinate with commissioning teams to support system startup, testing, and turnover documentation
Monitor subcontractor progress and communicate issues impacting schedule or quality
Maintain organized project documentation including submittals, RFIs, and as-built information
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred
2–3 years of experience in construction, preferably with exposure to MEP systems
Basic understanding of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems and construction processes
Experience reviewing drawings and coordinating between trades
Familiarity with construction software (Procore, Bluebeam, BIM/Navisworks, etc.)
Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, and shop drawings
Strong attention to detail and organization
Effective communication across field and office teams
Ability to manage multiple coordination tasks simultaneously
Problem‑solving mindset with the ability to elevate issues appropriately
Developing understanding of sequencing and constructability
Willingness to learn and grow into increased responsibility
Works under guidance of MEP Manager, Project Manager, or Senior Coordinator
Handles defined scopes or systems with increasing independence
Actively contributes to coordination efforts rather than only supporting
Demonstrates progression toward managing full MEP coordination on smaller scopes
