Senior Techno Functional Workday Payroll Consultant

Position Summary
CVS Health is looking for a Workday (Functional & Technical) Expert (with Payroll and Absence Management) to join our Human Resources Technology team. This role supports HR and Payroll business operations by providing optimal and scalable technology solutions for Workday Payroll and Absence Management modules for domestic (USA) and international employees.

Primary Responsibilities

Collaborate with business and technical partners to support the Workday Payroll and Absence functional areas and roadmap.

Work closely with business leaders and stakeholders to develop vision, goals and roadmap for the product.

Maintain a clear and up-to-date list of key deliverables and timelines, developing plans to achieve targets and proactively communicating progress to stakeholders.

Ensure delivered products meet or exceed business needs and objectives.

Responsible for timely delivery of enhancements, project requests and defects with optimal and scalable solutions.

Accountable for the health of the product.

Gather requirements, conduct business process optimization, fit-gap analysis, functional design, configuration and testing; create necessary documentation at each stage.

Collaborate with cross‑functional partners to maintain transparency, consistency in delivery, and set expectations.

Understand the needs of the business and evaluate Workday capabilities through research and testing.

Actively participate in Workday's semi‑annual release process, engaging with release teams and business leads on critical impacts and upcoming enhancements; support regression testing.

Stay aware of new and planned Workday functionality, engaging with the Workday Community to communicate changes that could impact business.

Translate business requirements to technical solutions and create appropriate timelines.

Conduct fit‑gap analysis, functional design, configuration, user acceptance testing and maintenance of the software solution.

Maintain up‑to‑date documentation, approvals and artifacts in tracking tools.

Perform and support user acceptance testing, creating test plans, scenarios, cases and results documentation.

Adhere to industry best practices, engaging with the Workday Community on future releases; encourage product innovation and alternative approaches.

Integrate relevant data and insights to positively influence the Workday strategy and share key insights with stakeholders.

Challenge partners to rethink HR and Payroll processes, acting as a thought partner and model creative problem‑solving to influence business decisions.

Generate reports and analytics to support various business needs.

Provide strategic direction and guidance to product and shared services teams, mentoring and developing team members.

Required Qualifications

5+ years’ experience in a Workday Payroll technical‑functional lead role.

5+ years’ experience configuring and debugging Business Processes and building solutions in Workday.

5+ years’ experience with calculated fields, complex reports and other configurations in Workday.

5+ years’ experience gathering requirements, performing fit‑gap analysis, designing solutions, creating functional designs, configuring the Workday application, performing user acceptance testing and maintaining product health.

5+ years’ experience generating reports for analysis, data auditing and supporting requests from various business teams.

2+ years’ experience collaborating with SaaS vendors to deliver business needs.

2+ years’ experience leading a team.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience supporting HR systems for large organizations with non‑exempt employees.

Experience supporting international employees.

Ability to lead a team in a matrix organization while managing multiple priorities.

Experience working in a Product Model with product ownership and accountability for product health.

Strong organizational, analytical, time‑management, and problem‑solving skills.

Ability to develop and sustain relationships with business partners and stakeholders, optimizing business processes.

Strong customer service orientation.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Strong work ethic, self‑starter, and productivity in a dynamic, collaborative environment.

Experience with Project Management, Change Management and Communications.

Education

Bachelor's Degree Required.

Pay Range
The typical pay range for this role is: $106,605.00 - $284,280.00. This range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full‑time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on experience, education, geography and other factors. This position is eligible for a bonus, commission or short‑term incentive program in addition to the base pay range, and also includes an award target in the company’s equity award program.
