General Manager Role
The General Manager – Revenue Solutions in the Optum Insight Provider Market leads strategic and commercial plans to achieve above‑market growth by delivering AI‑enabled revenue solutions to provider clients in acute and ambulatory care settings. The role spans software and services, enabling faster, more accurate, and optimized revenue capture for client clinical services. It requires setting the agenda through planning cycles, ensuring execution of annual and long‑range plans, orchestrating across Commercial, Product, and Operations leaders, and championing the end‑to‑end client experience.
Primary Responsibilities
Provide overall business leadership for the Revenue Solutions business, partnering across Optum to drive enterprise‑wide client solutions.
Deliver against business results: revenue and IOI targets.
Formulate business strategy, financial plans and execution plans for the business and be responsible for the business P&L, generating YoY double‑digit growth both organic and inorganic.
Expand product offerings, generate additional revenue opportunities, improve the customer experience, and enhance the infrastructure by leveraging existing and modern technologies with an AI‑first mindset, shaping product strategy and ensuring alignment with roadmap and capital allocation.
Provide end‑to‑end thought leadership, insight, and influence around Optum's enterprise‑wide strategy, identifying and exploiting synergies and market opportunities across Optum Insight and other business segments.
Collaborate with other lines of business to drive organizational efficiencies and alignment, developing infrastructure for future growth and shepherding a cultural shift toward a cloud‑first, AI‑first, SaaS‑based business.
Lead domain business reviews (forecasts, objectives, status updates).
Engage with customers on high‑impact opportunities.
Develop an end‑to‑end process for development, implementation, use, reporting and feedback on solution offerings, collaborating with product groups, distribution channels and specialist areas as needed.
Spearhead development, communication and implementation of effective growth strategies to achieve and surpass sales and profitability goals for the Revenue Solutions business.
Collaborate with the Optum executive team to develop and implement plans for the operational infrastructure of systems, processes and personnel designed to enable rapid growth.
Build and manage strategic vendor relationships, developing and maintaining relationships with internal & external contacts, managing service providers (development, IT, operations, sales, legal, compliance, marketing, etc.) to ensure offerings meet company objectives.
Recommend and champion strategies and tactics to positively impact key drivers such as price, risk profile, utilization, activation, attrition and revenue to ensure P&L and market share goals are achieved.
Build for the future and provide strong leadership; oversee talent plans and strategies to attract, motivate and retain a diverse, qualified and engaged team, providing coaching and development and ensuring resource planning.
Understand the future of the industry and develop new products and services to better support clients and ensure smooth delivery of innovative solutions.
Identify continuous improvement opportunities and manage productivity metrics and efficiencies.
Assist, as required, in raising additional capital at appropriate valuations to enable the Company to meet sales, growth and market share objectives.
Foster a success‑oriented, accountable environment within the company.
Represent the company with clients, investors and business partners.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree required.
15+ years of combined experience and a proven record of driving major transformational change and delivering measurable results, and developing and leading growth programs or initiatives.
15+ years experience of progressive general management with P&L responsibility in a growth‑oriented, client‑focused organization.
Experience leading and growing the P&L of a solutions business in a large‑sized healthcare technology organization, working with product development, launching new products and thinking innovatively.
Skilled in organizational development, personnel management, budget and resource development, and strategic planning.
Experience managing multi‑million‑dollar budgets that include sales/bookings targets, revenue targets, client satisfaction targets and expense targets.
Prior experience in forecasting and demonstrated experience in financial planning and analysis with previous experience partnering with human resources, information technology and legal.
A demonstrated track record of acting as an innovative thought leader and business partner to executives across multiple business units.
Proven experience and expertise in leading a large and complex organization through transformation from standalone business units to a more fully integrated and strategically aligned organization.
Experience assimilating and analyzing information pertaining to the customer experience.
Experience motivating, developing, coaching, and guiding people in a matrixed organization.
Experience managing a team plus indirect staff across multiple geographies.
Ability to navigate and work across multiple constituents to develop, communicate, and support a company's short‑term and long‑term business objectives.
Possess personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and commitment to Optum's Vision and Values.
Must be able to travel 50%.
Preferred Qualifications
Master's Business Administration.
10+ years of combined experience in product management, delivering new product delivery and leading strategic go‑to‑market initiatives of diverse scope in a large matrixed software company.
Experience working in design thinking and/or familiarity in working in an agile/scrum process is a plus.
Has led the SDLC and PDLC for a multi‑segment, multi‑solution, technology organization in the healthcare space.
Experience supporting Optum Markets (Payers, Employers, Providers, Federal/State government, Emerging Markets).
Experience working across UHG, Optum and UHC lines of businesses.
Proficient skills and knowledge of servant leadership, resilience, resourcefulness, facilitation, situational awareness, conflict resolution, continual improvement, empowerment, and increasing transparency.

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. Salary for this role ranges from $225,000 to $375,000 annually based on full‑time employment. In addition to salary, we offer a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401(k) contribution. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
