Key Responsibilities

Operational Excellence: drive operational excellence by creating efficient processes and procedures for daily tasks and projects; establish and enforce network standards and policies while ensuring full compliance; partner closely with internal customers to address their needs and resolve issues promptly.

Network Deployment: lead end‑to‑end network and test infrastructure deployments for new site builds, expansions, and migrations— from procurement through installation, configuration, and handoff to operations; develop standardized deployment playbooks and repeatable processes to accelerate delivery timelines while maintaining quality and security compliance.

Performance Management/Team Health: own all facets of performance and career management; conduct regular one‑on‑ones with all team members, providing both technical and soft‑skill mentoring to maintain a world‑class organization.

Automation: drive the team to analyze daily operations and identify automation opportunities; champion integration of AI and machine learning to enhance network automation and operations.

A Day in the Life
You’ll lead a team of engineers supporting Leo’s enterprise network, balancing strategic planning with hands‑on problem solving—unblocking your team, aligning priorities across organizations. Lead infrastructure builds from rack‑and‑stack through go‑live, partnering with stakeholders, vendors, and engineering teams to deliver production‑ready sites on schedule. Driving innovation is essential—you identify automation opportunities and encourage the team to eliminate repetitive tasks. Through regular one‑on‑ones, you coach engineers on technical growth, set performance goals, and refine capacity plans to support future scaling.

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field

4+ years of managing teams experience

Experience with network operations either as a manager or individual contributor

2+ years experience in designing and operating large‑scale, production networks

3+ years of experience with routing and switching protocols and hardware; experience with wired and wireless deployments and equipment

7+ years of engineering experience

8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi‑tier web services experience

Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware
etworks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations

Experience partnering with product or program management teams

Demonstrated design, implementation, and skills combined with a proven documentation methodology

Multiple years experience in a networking team with global scale

Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge of networking

Experience contributing to the creation and implementation of high‑quality, high‑volume recruiting plans

Experience contributing to the definition and implementation of automation opportunities within an operations environment

Base salary range: $175,100 – $236,900 annually (USA, VA Arlington; USA, WA Bellevue). Your Amazon package will include sign‑on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and location. Amazon also offers comprehensive benefits including health insurance (medical, dental, vision, prescription, Basic Life & AD&D insurance and option for Supplemental life plans), EAP, Mental Health Support, Medical Advice Line, Flexible Spending Accounts, Adoption and Surrogacy Reimbursement coverage, 401(k) matching, paid time off, and parental leave.
