
Director of Aquatics

The YMCA of Greater Springfield is looking for a passionate individual to lead our Aquatics department at our Scantic Valley Branch location.
Salary: $46,000-$50,000 annually

POSITION SUMMARY
The Aquatics Coordinator is responsible for the overall management and supervision of the aquatics programs and facilities at the YMCA. This includes ensuring the safety of all participants, maintaining a clean and well-maintained environment, and developing and implementing high-quality aquatics programs. The Aquatics Coordinator reports directly to the Executive Director.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Assists the Aquatics Director to oversee the development and operations of aquatics, and/or other programs.
Aids in the development and helps implement high quality, member-focused YMCA aquatics programs.
Act as a leader in program activities to meet the needs of the community and fulfill YMCA objectives.
Assist with training, developing, and scheduling. Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals.
Assume various administrative responsibilities, such as daily voicemails to the Aquatics Department, organizing and maintaining lesson plans, checklists and administrative paperwork.
Manage rosters for swim lessons, assigning staff to groups to teach lessons.
Assists with Lifeguarding, swim instruction, and in-service meetings.
Assists in coverage and finding coverage for the pool schedule and lessons.
Responds to all member and community inquiries and complaints in a timely manner.
Position will include weekends and evenings.

QUALIFICATIONS
Must be a minimum of 21 years or older.
Certifications must include Lifeguarding/ CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED, First Aid, Oxygen.
At least 1 year of customer-facing experience (customer service, team manager).
Reliable and enthusiastic.
Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
Sufficient strength, agility and mobility to perform essential functions of position and to supervise program activities.
Ability to lift equipment, and to lift a small to average size child. Push, pull, or lift up to 25 pounds for short periods of time.
Ability to sit, stand or reach for extended periods of time.
