Dentist

Borinquen Medical Centers is seeking to hire a full‑time Dentist to join our team. The Dentist is responsible for performing professional dental care on adults and children, including oral examinations, diagnosis and treatment planning, preventive care, restorative dentistry, extractions, root canals, fixed and removable prosthodontics, treating mouth diseases, instructing patients in oral hygiene, and preparing and maintaining clinical records (manual and electronic). Utilizes established dental protocol and procedures as documented in the most current Florida Statutes.
Tasks and Responsibilities

Diagnose and treat dental diseases, injuries, and malformations of teeth and gums and related oral structures; examine patients to determine the nature of condition, utilizing x-rays, dental instruments, and other diagnostic tools.
Provide preventive dental services to patients, such as prophylaxis, fluoride and sealant applications, and oral hygiene education.
Provide instruction on diet, brushing, flossing, use of fluorides, and other aspects of dental care.
Administer local anesthetics, write prescriptions for antibiotics and other medications, remove decay and restore teeth.
Diagnose and treat infections of the oral cavity (endodontics or oral surgery); restore, extract, and replace teeth to restore function and esthetics (prosthodontics).
Use electronic health record Athena/Dentrix to review medical history, document dental history, chief complaints, record vital signs, and document services performed in clinical notes, maintaining patient records at each appointment.
Maintain accurate documentation of all services rendered in patient charts; prepare reports and conduct correspondence related to work.
Provide consultation and/or expert advice or testimony.
Provide direct dental supervision to Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) residents at Larkin Community Hospital within the scope, quality, and quantity consistent with program standards and policies.
Supervise development and implementation of dental care plans by AEGD residents; instruct and counsel residents, ascertain resident’s patient progress.
Requirements

Degree in Dentistry from an accredited school or completion of a postgraduate dental program qualifying to become licensed in the State of Florida.
Current active Dental License to practice in the State of Florida.
Current CPR Certification.
Experience in primary care, public health, or community health preferred.
Handle information with a high level of confidentiality.
