
Vice President, Construction

Overview
The VP, Construction will oversee the planning, coordination, and budgeting of all construction projects in the US and Canada for over 1,465 stores across Foot Locker, Kids Foot Locker, and Champs Sports. This individual will manage and direct construction initiatives, overseeing all new store openings, development of in-store concepts (reimagined stores, expansions), renovations, deadlines, permits, and inspections. This role is for a hands‑on problem solver who can motivate their own team, as well as cross‑functional partners.
Responsibilities
Develop and execute financial modeling to ensure project costs align with project budgets.
Oversee tenant improvements, building renovation projects and various capital improvement projects across all regions.
Assist in the establishment and ensure compliance of the departments’ short‑term and long‑term goals with overall corporate objectives.
Plan, staff, and supervise all assigned departmental activities to ensure a cohesive and collaborative team across all regions. Assign and monitor workflow. Hire, direct, manage, and train team members.
Develop and maintain project budgets and schedules. Create, update, and analyze detailed budgets, including payment approvals (billing & invoices), budget tracking and cash flow reports.
Create annual construction budgets, determining both immediate and long‑term requirements to preserve assets and maintain building integrity.
Provide technical consulting and services to property management staff for any and all construction‑related matters and coordinate to assure minimal disruption to building operations.
Confer with vendors, contractors, and design professionals to discuss and resolve matters such as contract disputes, vendor complaints, and other construction issues.
Effectively manage and develop a team of 25+ associates across the US and Canada, leveraging their talent, skills and abilities to drive department strategies and develop future leaders for the organization.
Act as liaison for the Corporation, divisions, and outside parties.
Establish and maintain strong and productive relationships cross‑functionally, particularly with the Finance, Procurement, Legal, Store Operations, Real Estate, Construction & Facilities Maintenance teams.
Qualifications
10+ years of experience in retail construction with a preference towards multi‑brand development, planning, strategy development, construction project management, and financial analysis.
Bachelor’s Degree in architecture, engineering, construction management, or some related field required.
Experience in managing construction projects in both mall and street‑store environments required.
LEED certification is preferred.
Strong knowledge of specialty store retail real estate in all geographies.
Demonstrated ability to effectively negotiate, leveraging broad real estate and contract knowledge.
Effective oral and written communication skills with a proven ability to communicate at all levels of the organization and influence key leaders to drive strategies.
Ability to effectively manage both internal and external vendor/contractor/consultant relationships.
Ability to work on multiple projects concurrently in a results‑oriented and deadline‑driven environment.
Working knowledge of commercial real estate, business law, retail finance and accounting principles.
Data‑oriented with proven ability to analyze, interpret, and synthesize data, making recommendations to drive business decisions.
Ability to adapt well to change in direction and priority in a fast‑paced and deadline‑oriented environment.
Experience in North American markets.
Ability to travel 40‑50% of the time.
Benefits
The annual base salary range is $250,000 to $275,000/year. This range represents the anticipated low and high end of the salary for this position. This role is also eligible to receive short‑term incentives that align with individual and company performance. Salary will be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data. Salary is one component of the Foot Locker, Inc. total compensation package, which includes the following.
