Accommodations Specialist

Position Summary

Provides direct support to individuals seeking pregnancy accommodation pursuant to the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act, Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972, and other civil rights laws. Conducts accommodation analyses, provides referrals, approves reasonable accommodations, and connects individuals with services to support their personal and/or academic goals. Educates campus constituencies regarding support for pregnant workers and conditions related to pregnancy.
Provides direct support to individuals with disabilities as defined by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) including those individuals seeking ADA accommodation. Conducts disability eligibility analyses, provides referrals facilitates ADA accommodations, and connects individuals with services to support their personal and/or academic goals.
Provides direct support to individuals seeking religious accommodation pursuant to Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. Conducts accommodation analyses, provides referrals, facilitates accommodations.
Duties and Responsibilities

Performs intake interviews to gain a foundational understanding of individual needs and evaluates information from medical professionals; makes referrals and/or consults with diagnosticians, as necessary.
Works with individuals to determine reasonable accommodations needed for academic, professional and/or personal success; connects individuals to and/or provides direct resources and services.
Educates students, families, faculty and staff, on appropriate services for and communications with individuals; compiles and distributes necessary documentation to verify accommodation needs.
Assists individuals with solving obstacles unique and/or common to pregnant individuals; interfaces with campus constituencies to ensure individuals gain equitable access to resources.
Increases understanding regarding issues affecting pregnant individuals and individuals with disabilities, by delivering presentations, trainings, workshops and/or educational materials related to research and best practices.
Creates and presents educational information about religious accommodations.
Records interactions and analyzes effectiveness of accommodation; compiles reports and analyzes data related to accommodations, compliance, and program efficacy.
Maintains confidentiality of university and student records, as applicable.
Maintains currency of knowledge with respect to technology, equipment, applicable laws, regulations, standards and/or systems.
Serves as a Campus Security Authority as outlined by the Clery Act.
Performs miscellaneous job‑related duties as assigned.
Minimum Job Requirements

Knowledge and understanding of PWFA regulations, Title IX, guidelines and standards as applicable to an academic and/or workplace setting.
Knowledge and understanding of HIPAA and related Federal and State privacy laws and regulations.
Strong listening, interpersonal and communication skills.
Knowledge of programs/services available to university constituents.
Ability to assess and interpret individual client needs and to make appropriate referrals to internal or external sources.
Ability to deliver effective presentations to large and small audiences.
Ability to use independent judgment to manage and impart confidential information.
Skilled in facilitating problem solving with individuals regarding personal, professional and/or academic priorities.
Effective collaboration with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
Knowledge of teaching methods, curriculum, and education programs where applicable.
Ability to communicate with and relate to individuals of diverse backgrounds.
Ability to gather data, compile information and prepare reports.
Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality.
Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree; at least 3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
Preferred Qualifications

Experience and knowledge of Title IX of the Education Act.
Experience in higher education.

Pay

3,844.53 – 5,399.33 Monthly
Remote Work

This position is eligible for a remote work agreement (RWA), to include Hybrid, In-State, and Out-of-State.
