Overview
The Department of Data Science at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute (DFCI) seeks candidates with a strong background in biostatistics, machine learning, and/or computational biology to collaborate with researchers at the Hale Family Center for Pancreatic Cancer Research. Located in Boston and the surrounding communities, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute is a leader in cancer research and patient care. The position is based in the Department of Data Science at DFCI with a Research Scientist track appointment in the Department of Biostatistics at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. This is a non-tenure track faculty position with a salary comparable to tenure-track faculty, independence to choose projects, grant submission support, and the opportunity to hire and supervise a research team. The position also permits seeking external and internal funding for independent projects.

The Department of Data Science at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute offers an exceptional collaborative environment with experts in clinical trials, cancer genetics, immunology, epigenetics, machine learning, statistical software development, Bayesian methods, and alignment algorithms.

Roles and Responsibilities

Conduct research as an independent investigator or lead research projects, for example as a senior analyst, presenting results and preparing publications; collaborate with external researchers or supervise research staff.

Aspire to a career as a professional researcher or research manager.

Qualifications

Doctoral degree in biostatistics, machine learning, or computational biology

Minimum two years of postdoctoral experience

Evidence of ability to excel in research

Major contributor to refereed publications, beyond thesis papers

Evidence of leadership in scientific administration, including supervision of research staff

Pay and Benefits
Pay transparency statement: The hiring range is $145,000.00 - $162,000.00. The hiring range is based on market pay structures, with individual salaries determined by factors such as business needs, market conditions, internal equity, and the candidate’s relevant experience, skills, and qualifications. For union positions, the pay range is determined by the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).
