Overview
Provides analytical support to VNS Health Plans Actuarial Services Department, and in particular, support the actuarial needs of the company. Works under general direction.

What You Will Do
Collects and analyzes data related to pricing, reserving, actuarial reporting and functions.
Applies and develops expertise and technical support, under the guidance of more experienced Actuarial staff, in matters related to the successful and financially sound operation of the company’s business to external and internal customers.
Assists in IBNR and other liabilities valuations. Develops knowledge of company’s claims system and general ledger for identifying and reconciling discrepancies. Helps to automate and improve the valuation models and processes.
Assists in monitoring trends and analyzing utilization and unit cost for budget planning and Medicare bid.
Participates in collecting and preparing materials to be used as references in any audit-related activity.
Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor's Degree in mathematics, actuarial science, statistics or a related discipline required. Minimum one actuarial exam required.
Work Experience:
0 - one year of actuarial experience required
Personal computer skills including Microsoft Office products, with expertise in Excel/Access/VBA required
Knowledge of SAS programming preferred
Strong analytical skills and a good understanding of the actuarial principles required
Effective oral, written and interpersonal communication skills required. Actuarial experience in a healthcare environment preferred
Pay Range
USD $70,200.00 - USD $87,700.00 /Yr.
