This position supervises, coordinates and plans the PIH Health Whittier Hospital Sterile Processing Department for sterilization, decontamination, assembly, packaging, and proper maintenance of sterile instruments and equipment. The Supervisor develops a system to ensure instrumentation is available for surgeries and procedures in a timely manner. Responsible for maintaining the sterilization standards for PIH Health Whittier Hospital and for ensuring quality control throughout operations, including completion of sterilization, all quality check logs, cart exchanges and storage areas within Surgical Services. Surgical Services includes Surgery, Same Day Surgery, GI Lab, and additional areas within the hospital where sterile equipment and instruments may be used. Provides leadership and accountability for assigned operations and direct reports. Participates to maintain financial strength. The Sterile Processing Supervisor is responsible for counseling, coaching and the performance of all SPD Techs. This is a key position in the Department of Perioperative Services.

Minimum of five years of Sterile Processing management experience
Medical-Surgical product knowledge
Evidence of continuing education
Basic MS Office/Excel/Word/Outlook experience
Preferred:
Sterile Processing Certificate
Associate or bachelor’s Degree
