Job Description
The Montague, DiFeliceantonio, and Howe Laboratories at the Fralin Biomedical Research Institute at Virginia Tech are seeking a motivated and creative Postdoctoral Associate.
The labs are jointly pursuing projects probing the intersection of metabolism and computational neuroscience. We are seeking to integrate metabolic signals with canonical computational frameworks to further understand brain function.
Work would be performed in human participants using a variety of monitoring techniques, both neural and physiological.
Job duties will include:
Research Conceptualization – Coordinating with and assisting the PI in the design of experiment and grant proposal methodology as well as methods for analyzing the results of experiments.
Research Publications – Preparation of text, tables, and graphical information as appropriate for dissemination in peer‑reviewed publications, or presentation at professional conferences or in book chapters.
Data Analysis – Analyzing the findings from research methods and transforming the results into formats appropriate for dissemination in peer‑reviewed publications or conference presentations or in formats that engender further analysis.
Project Management – Training and supervising research personnel to organize and conduct study sessions.
Required Qualifications
PhD in health science, neuroscience, psychology, nutrition, or related field. PhD must be awarded no more than four years prior to the effective date of appointment with a minimum of one year eligibility remaining.
Track record of publications and presentations.
Experience in mentorship and/or teaching.
Ability to wear personal protective equipment, and the ability to walk, stand, bend, and stoop for long periods of time.
Preferred Qualifications
Demonstrated research experience.
Demonstrated track record of research excellence as indicated by peer‑reviewed publications and presentations.
Overtime Status
Exempt: Not eligible for overtime.
Appointment Type
Restricted.
Salary Information
Commensurate with experience.
Hours per week
40+.
