Responsibilities
Provides patient care as directed.
Documents patient-related care timely within the electronic health record.
Maintains patient medical records.
Administers medication, including oral and intramuscular medications; may administer intravenous therapy if appropriately certified.
Performs treatments and assists with Doctor’s Sick Call.
Assists with chronic care clinics management.
Participates in patient care planning and treatment team activities.
Responds to emergencies and provides emergency care and data collection.
Collects vital signs and documents all findings.
Collects urine and/or other body fluid specimens; may perform venipuncture for laboratory analysis.
Prepares patients for release and/or transfer by reviewing patient care and completing release or transfer summaries.
Ensures discharge medication orders are completed and forwarded to pharmacy services.
Participates in work-related training and institutional training exercises as assigned.
Provides assistance to other healthcare staff.
Investigates and documents problem areas and/or concerns.
Reviews shift reports from preceding shifts.
Assists physicians with medical procedures.
Assumes duties of other nurses during absences.
Observes, documents, and provides nursing support to assistive personnel.
Provides patient education regarding healthcare maintenance and disease prevention.
Participates in continuous quality improvement activities.
Performs administrative duties and attends meetings.
Schedules multidisciplinary team meetings and assists with inventory and ordering of medical supplies.
Assists ancillary staff, including Health Information Technicians and medical schedulers, to ensure patient care needs are met.
Works overtime as required.
Starting Pay
$58,000 based on shift assignments.
License & NLC
License to practice nursing as a Licensed Practical Nurse issued by the Ohio Board of Nursing; MDS certification issued by ANNAC. Ohio has joined the Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) which allows an LPN to hold one multistate license and practice in 37 other compact states.
