Basic Job Functions:
Nucor Fastener, St. Joe, is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Production Planning Supervisor. This role is responsible for leading the production planning and scheduling function to safely support customer demand while optimizing production flow, inventory, and service across the facility. The Production Planning Supervisor will work closely with Operations, Sales, Shipping, Finance, and Quality to drive disciplined execution in a fast paced fastener manufacturing environment.
This teammate will demonstrate strong leadership, operational knowledge, and a commitment to continuous improvement within Nucor’s performance‑based culture.
Key Duties:
Lead and supervise the production planning and scheduling function in the division
Develop and maintain daily and weekly production schedules aligned with customer demand and plant capabilities
Coordinate priorities across Wire Processing, Forming, Heat Treat, Outside Processing, Packing, and Shipping
Balance throughput, WIP, and finished goods inventory to support safety, service, and cost objectives
Monitor capacity constraints, backlog, and material availability and proactively adjust schedules
Partner with Sales to support forecast changes and customer commitments
Track and analyze key planning performance metrics including schedule adherence, OTIF, inventory turns, and WIP
Ensure planning activities fully support safety, quality, and environmental standards
Lead, coach, and develop planning teammates while reinforcing accountability and teamwork
Support ERP/MRP transactions, master data accuracy, and production reporting
Drive continuous improvement initiatives related to production flow, planning discipline, and communication

Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent
Minimum one (1) year experience in a production planning role with direct responsibility maintaining, interpreting, or troubleshooting MRP outputs in Microsoft Dynamics 365 (e.g., planned orders, demand signals, supply recommendations)
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Operations Management, Industrial Engineering, or related field
Prior supervisory or lead experience
Experience in fastener manufacturing, steel, metals, or heavy industrial environments
Familiarity with continuous improvement, lean manufacturing, or constraint management
Demonstrated ability to coordinate multiple production streams and priorities
