Lead Dental Assistant/Radiographer
Overview
Take digital intra-oral and extra‑oral radiographic imaging, including cone‑beam computed tomography, bitewing, periapical, occlusal, and panoramic views in analog/film and digital/plate/sensor formats; review radiographs within guidelines; process and route imaging‑related materials; greet, screen, and direct patients; confirm patient is authorized for a radiographic examination; provide four‑handed chairside assistance to dental students; assign patients to dental students within guidelines; monitor collection of instruments, dispense supplies, disposable materials, instruments, and equipment; maintain cleanliness of the work area, uphold quality and safety standards, and ensure proper recycling and disposal of infectious materials while adhering to infection‑control protocols and HIPAA compliance.

Responsibilities

Take digital intra‑oral and extra‑oral radiographic imaging (e.g., CBCT, bitewing, periapical, occlusal, panoramic views in analog/film and digital/plate/sensor formats).

Review radiographs within guidelines.

Process and route imaging related materials.

Greet, screen, and direct patients.

Confirm patient is authorized for a radiographic examination.

Provide four‑handed chairside assistance to dental students.

Assign patients to dental students within guidelines.

Monitor collection of instruments; dispense supplies, disposable materials, instruments, and equipment.

Maintain cleanliness of the work area, uphold quality and safety standards, and ensure proper recycling and disposal of infectious materials while adhering to infection‑control protocols and HIPAA compliance.

Required Education

High School Diploma or equivalent.

Preferred Education

Associate’s Degree in Dental Hygiene.

Required Experience

2+ years of related experience; graduate of a Dental Assistant Training Program; certification as a Dental Assistant.

Preferred Experience

2+ years chairside assisting in a private practice.

Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

Knowledge of four‑handed chairside dental techniques and dental lab equipment.

Excellent interpersonal skills.

Ability to operate standard office equipment.

Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

NYSDOH approved CBCT training for dental assistants.

Valid New York State Radiology Technology license or Dental Hygiene license.

Salary
In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the hourly rate for this position is USD $36.90.
