Primary Duties and Responsibilities
As a Medical Assistant at our Beverly Hills Wilshire Primary & Specialty Care Clinic, you will work under the direct supervision of a physician or nurse practitioner. You will participate in patient care in an ambulatory setting, recognizing normal and abnormal signs and symptoms, and provide support during life‑threatening emergencies. You may perform basic administrative, clerical, and technical supportive services when conditions regarding supervision, training, authorization, and records are met.

Job Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:

Knowledge of normal and abnormal symptomology and life‑threatening medical problems.

BLS from American Heart Association or American Red Cross.

Ability to administer CPR.

Skillfully administer oral, IM and subcutaneous medications.

Perform venipuncture with skill, adhering to all OSHA PPE safety requirements.

Obtain accurate vital signs and drug refills.

Assist in medical emergencies and office procedures.

Use computerized patient care systems.

Knowledge of medical terminology.

Interpersonal skills to interact with patients, families, ancillary departments, physicians, and co‑workers courteously and compassionately.

Verbal skills to effectively convey sensitive information courteously in person or on the telephone.

Accurately perform an EKG.

Follow proper channels of policies & procedures, communication & work standards.

Flexibility in working both back and front office to facilitate smooth workflow.

Set up and assist physician with procedures such as audiometry, spirometry, O2 saturation levels, skin tag and mole removals, ear lavage, colposcopies, flexible sigmoidoscopies, etc.

Perform accurate quality control and patient sample testing for waived tests.

Knowledge of all safety requirements when handling biohazardous specimens or contaminated instruments.

Knowledge of MSDS and emergency treatments.

Work overtime in cases of emergency.

Be punctual and maintain a satisfactory attendance record.

Maintain a harmonious work atmosphere, practicing excellent customer service.

Push, pull or carry 30 lbs or more.

A Medical Assistant diploma or certificate that meets one of the following:

Documentation of completing a medical assistant program from a school accredited by ASSCS, ACCET, CAAHEP or ABHES.

National certification for medical assistant issued by CMA, NCCT or AMT.

Documentation of completing a medical assistant program and demonstrated completion of at least 10 clock hours of training in administering injections and performing skin tests; plus 10 hours of training in venipuncture and skin puncture for withdrawing blood; at least 10 of each intramuscular, subcutaneous, and intradermal injections and 10 skin tests; and 10 hours of training in administering medication by inhalation.

As a condition of employment, the final candidate who accepts an offer of employment will be required to disclose if they have been subject to any final administrative or judicial decisions within the last seven years determining that they committed any misconduct, or have filed an appeal of a finding of substantiated misconduct with a previous employer.
