Description
As a PCB Librarian, you will be responsible for managing PCB component libraries and associated design data for Impulse avionics and RF products. You will ensure that schematic symbols, footprints, and part metadata are accurate and ready for use in flight PCBA designs that need to survive in a space environment. In this role you will work closely with electrical, RF, mechanical, and manufacturing teams to drive standardization and enable rapid, reliable, and high-quality hardware development.
Responsibilities
Own the creation, maintenance, and standardization of PCB component libraries (symbols, footprints, 3D models, and metadata) for avionics hardware
Ensure libraries are accurate, manufacturable, and compliant with IPC Class 2/3 standards
Collaborate with electrical engineers to translate schematic and layout into reliable, reusable library components
Review new component requests and validate footprints, 3D models, pin assignments and layout constraints
Mentor engineers on library best practices, IPC standards, and DFM considerations
Collaborate across electrical, mechanical, systems, and manufacturing teams to ensure library and design alignment
Minimum Qualifications
5+ years of experience in PCB design, component management, or electronics hardware development
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, or comparable practical experience
Strong proficiency in Altium (preferred) or equivalent professional PCB design tools
Experience managing component libraries, including symbols, footprints, 3D models, and metadata
Solid understanding of high density, multilayer PCB design practices
Knowledge of PCB fabrication, assembly processes, materials, and manufacturing constraints
Ability to work effectively in cross functional engineering teams and communicate across disciplines
Preferred Skills and Experience
Familiarity with boards containing microcontrollers, FPGAs, high speed interfaces, RF/mixed signal circuits, or power management
Knowledge of IPC industry standards
Familiarity with signal and power integrity concepts
Experience with high reliability requirementsAbility to mentor engineers and improve overall library and design quality
Experience in a startup or agile development environment

Compensation bands are determined by role, level, location, and alignment with market data. Individual level and base pay is determined on a case‑by‑case basis and may vary based on job‑related skills, education, experience, technical capabilities and internal equity. In addition to base salary, for full‑time hires, you may also be eligible for long‑term incentives, in the form of stock options, and access to medical, vision & dental coverage as well as access to a 401(k) retirement plan.
