H2M’s Land Surveying team delivers the precise boundary, topographic, and construction phase data essential to successful site development. We provide ALTA/NSPS surveys, aerial mapping, detailed topographic surveys, construction layout, and as built documentation using advanced instrumentation and geospatial software. Our licensed surveyors combine technical expertise with efficient field practices to produce accurate, reliable, and engineering ready survey deliverables that support projects of every scale.

We are seeking a Senior Project Surveyor to join our Civil/Survey Engineering Department in our NJ office. We seek an experienced survey professional capable of performing survey computations, overseeing map deliverables, and managing survey crews. Successful candidates will have 10 or more years of demonstrated field and office survey experience. P.L.S. (NJ) required.

Key Responsibilities

Train and manage survey field crews, CAD technicians and/or office support staff.

Supervise, participate in and coordinate surveying projects and goal establishment. This includes planning and coordinating detailed aspects of office and field survey work and assigning daily work schedules.

Utilize GPS and survey equipment to collect, validate and process data and create reports.

Calculate and verify computations; create sketches and CAD drawings.

Review plans, plats, and legal documents to appropriately plan and schedule work.

Prepare survey boundary analysis and computations of ALTA, topographic, utility and roadway surveys utilizing Civil 3D and other industry standard software.

Review quality control of all survey documents, including survey plans, record plats, legal descriptions, and review of title commitment reports.

Assist in the financial management of survey projects including proposal preparation, billing reports, invoicing and collections.

Mentor and manage staff level employees on their overall development and career path goals.

Education & Qualifications

Successful candidate must have 10 or more years demonstrated land survey experience; overall experience must include both office and field survey experience in a management role.

Bachelor’s Degree in Land Surveying or related discipline preferred.

NJ Professional Land Surveyor license required.

Prior experience managing staff required.

Ability to manage, schedule and direct field crews and provide technical support.

Strong organizational skills to manage office operations (drafting) and staffing in delivering multi-disciplinary projects.

Prior experience in budgeting survey projects and fee estimates.

Strong computer skills including AutoCAD and Civil 3D.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

The salary range for this role is $100,000 to $150,000 annually. The employment offer may deviate from this published range based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, experience, specialty, knowledge, education, geography and/or related certifications – not related to any applicant’s characteristics protected by local, state or federal law.
