Responsibilities:
Inspect mechanical components of vehicles to identify problems.
Overhaul and repair heavy‑duty engines, clutches, transmissions, differentials, and power systems, cooling systems, steering systems, hydraulic systems, or any other system used on medium and heavy‑duty trucks.
Install engines, transmissions, and other components.
Perform preventative maintenance.
Submit complete technical reports and documentation as required by manufacturers on all components on all makes of trucks and trailers.
Operate transportation equipment to demonstrate function or malfunction.
Replace worn, damaged, or defective mechanical parts.
Rewire electrical or electronic systems.
Align equipment or machinery.
Repair non‑engine automotive or vehicle components.
Install vehicle parts or accessories.
Troubleshoot equipment or systems operation problems.
Comply with safety and EPA regulations as well as internal controls.
Complete all work orders in a timely manner, ensuring all labor and parts are charged to the appropriate work order line and comments are entered; understand reason and task codes and sign and check parts order form.
Tag all warranty parts with appropriate information.
Other duties as assigned.
Skills and Requirements:
High School diploma/GED equivalence
Diesel mechanic 0–5 years' experience
Strong diagnostic aptitude
Valid driver's license
CDL license or ability to obtain one
Communication skills
Teamwork
Dependable and reliable attendance
Owning your own hand tools is a plus
Eagerness to learn
Professionalism
Basic computer skills
Ability to lift up to 75 lbs.
