Chief Water Operator

The City of Boyd is accepting applications for a Chief Water Operator to oversee the operation, maintenance, and regulatory compliance of the City’s municipal water system.

Essential Functions

Manage the daily operation of water treatment and distribution systems

Ensure full compliance with TCEQ, state, and federal regulations

Supervise water utility staff and coordinate training

Perform and oversee water quality monitoring, sampling, and reporting

Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs

Respond to system emergencies and on-call situations

Maintain operational records, reports, and documentation

Coordinate with engineers, contractors, and regulatory agencies

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED

Valid Texas driver’s license

TCEQ Water Operator License (Class C minimum; Class B preferred)

Knowledge of public water systems and regulatory standards

Preferred Qualifications

3+ years of municipal water system experience

Supervisory experience

SCADA and distribution maintenance experience
