Assistant Pastor of Discipleship, Shepherding, and Evangelism: Evangelical Presbyterian Church
Job Description
Purpose of the role
To strengthen EP Church’s discipleship and shepherding ministries, and to help cultivate an evangelistic culture across the church, while assisting the Senior Pastor and Session in the overall pastoral work of the church.
Primary lanes
Life on Life: Provide leadership and oversight for Life‑on‑Life discipleship (training, coaching leaders, maintaining quality and health)
Sunday School: Recruit, train, and schedule Sunday School teachers for quarterly Sunday School classes.
Men’s Ministry: Oversee Thursday morning and evening men’s Bible studies; promote and recruit to presbytery Men’s retreat
Small Groups: Recruit and train small group leaders for small group ministry.
Oversee the monthly men’s evangelistic gathering (planning, hospitality, recruiting, speaker coordination, follow‑up
ext steps)
Equip members and leaders for everyday evangelism through training, tools, and coaching
Help ministries develop “invite” rhythms and clear next steps for newcomers and seekers
Initiate and coordinate visitation, hospital calls, and member care
Provide pastoral counseling within appropriate boundaries
Oversee the elder shepherding system and coordinate with care/compassion teams as assigned
4. Worship & Word
Participate in worship leadership
Preach occasionally as needed and as gifted
Assist with sacraments as appropriate
Position Qualifications
Ordained (or ordainable) in the PCA; aligned with Westminster Standards and PCA polity
Demonstrated strength in relational discipleship and leader development
Heart for evangelism and ability to equip others with confidence and clarity
Pastoral warmth, humility, teachability, and teamwork
