About the Role
As a CBRE Union Mobile Building Engineer, you will be responsible for supporting the operation, maintenance and reliability of critical building systems and infrastructure for a major telecommunications client in the Southfield, Michigan area. This role is essential to ensuring uninterrupted network operations through prompt response, technical expertise and proactive maintenance.

This position is part of CBRE’s Engineering & Technical Services function, which is responsible for maintaining, operating and improving building systems and critical infrastructure to support client operations. The role provides hands‑on technical support while upholding CBRE standards of safety, performance and service excellence.

This is a mobile, union‑based role requiring flexibility to respond to operational needs and service priorities within the assigned area.

What You’ll Do

Troubleshoot, diagnose and restore routine technical service and equipment issues to minimize disruption to network operations.

Respond to major network incidents impacting multiple business locations, key infrastructure elements or site outages, working efficiently to restore service.

Verify, complete and maintain accurate documentation for all work performed in accordance with established procedures and standards.

Perform routine maintenance, manage system configurations and maintain technical reference materials to ensure equipment operates at optimal performance.

Participate in user training related to system and application updates or enhancements, including creation of training documentation.

Apply in‑depth technical knowledge, standard principles and procedures to complete complex assignments and develop effective solutions.

Coach colleagues and share expertise within the job discipline while demonstrating broad knowledge of related technical areas.

Model CBRE RISE values and work collaboratively to build consensus and support team objectives.

Impact customer, operational, project and service activities across the team and related functional groups.

Communicate technical and non‑technical information clearly and professionally to diverse audiences.

What You’ll Need

High school diploma, GED or trade school diploma with 4–5 years of job‑related experience; an equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.

Prior experience supporting telecommunications or critical infrastructure environments strongly preferred.

Previous shift lead, lead engineer or supervisory experience preferred.

Ability to meet the physical demands of the role, including standing, walking, stooping, climbing ladders or stairs, and lifting or carrying 50 lbs. or more.

Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment based on analysis of multiple information sources.

Willingness to adapt to new technologies and bring a fresh perspective to existing solutions.

In‑depth working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel and Outlook.

Strong organizational skills with a proactive and inquisitive mindset.
