
Marine Electrician II

Job Description
Q.E.D. SYSTEMS, INC., a local Marine Engineering firm has multiple immediate full-time positions available for a qualified individual experienced in Marine Electrical applications in the Virginia Beach area. The individual will report directly to the Foreman or Project Supervisor that is responsible for executing the project. The candidate must be able to comply with all applicable safety regulations, work under industrial repair conditions, work in confined spaces, and climb vertical/inclined ladders.
Responsibilities include: installing, altering, repairing, troubleshooting, maintaining, testing, and operating any marine‑related electrical equipment or system such as distribution panels, console wiring, instrumentation wiring, control switches/wiring, power supplies, and lighting. The job requires laying out work, determining material needs, selecting load/cable/conduit sizes, determining power sources, choosing wire gauge, determining type/size of panels, calculating voltage/ampere/resistance requirements to determine size/type of materials required, using various electrical/electronic measuring instruments/devices, and conducting shipboard surveys to determine material/labor skills/time required to effect repairs/alterations/modifications to electrical systems/equipment.
All other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience Requirements
Three‑year apprenticeship, or served for at least four years in the U.S. Navy or U.S. Coast Guard as an Electrician, or have at least five years working experience as a Marine Electrician in the construction or repair of ships.
Ability to read, interpret, and follow blue prints, drawings, and technical manuals.
Security Clearance
Candidate will currently possess or be able to obtain at a minimum a Secret Government security clearance. A SECRET Security Clearance is highly desired but is not required.
Drug testing and criminal/personal background checks required before hiring.
