TITLE:
Mechanic I
FLSA STATUS:
Non‑Exempt
Qualifications
High school graduate or equivalent. Two years of experience in vehicle maintenance and repair or one year of technical training in the automotive field. Must be able to obtain a North Carolina commercial driver’s license with endorsements. Must be able to obtain NC vehicle inspector license. Ability to acquire skill in the performance of increasingly complex duties relating to the repair and maintenance of automotive equipment.

Duties and Responsibilities
Diagnoses and performs minor vehicle repairs.
Performs preventive maintenance procedures in accordance to state guidelines.
Performs North Carolina Vehicle inspection of buses and other school vehicles.
Performs duties of Fuel Truck Driver as needed.
Possesses availability for after‑hours emergencies on‑call with service vehicle.
Attends and successfully completes all training activities as required to improve ability and knowledge in performance of work duties.
Serves as team player and role model for other employees in the organization; demonstrates a commitment to continuous quality improvement; supports and exhibits organizational core values of caring, respect, integrity, responsibility, high expectations, being customer driven, and valuing fairness.
Performs other duties and accepts responsibilities as assigned.
Physical Requirements
Must be able to perform medium lifting exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Special Requirements
Background check with local and state law enforcement agencies required.
Must possess a valid North Carolina driver’s license.
Must be able to obtain a Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) when requested.
Must provide basic automotive tool kit.
