
Watercraft Marine Welder

QED Systems, an established marine engineering, planning, and ship modernization firm, is seeking qualified Marine Welders with 5+ years of experience.
Job Description
The candidate must comply with all applicable safety regulations, work under industrial repair conditions, work in confined spaces, and climb vertical/inclined ladders. The candidate must join metal components together through welding or brazing in both shop and shipboard environments, lay out work to be accomplished, select materials required to accomplish removals/ installations/ repairs/ alterations, and cut/burn/grind surfaces as directed.
Requirements & Skills
Experience and ability to certify to QED Weld Procedures for at least Aluminum; other materials optional (OSS, HY, SS, or CuNi).
Experience in at least two welding processes (SMAW, FCAW, GMAW, or GTAW).
Ability to read, interpret, and follow blueprints or technical drawings and understand associated welding symbols.
Prior NAVSEA, ABS, or AWS certification as a welder.
Provide a resume and be eligible for a Defense Biometric Identification System (DBIDS) credential.
Ability to lift, carry, and transport heavy equipment and boxes, no less than 30 pounds.
Credit given for U.S. Navy or U.S. Coast Guard experience; some travel possible.
Other Requirements
Military technical school(s) desirable.
U.S. citizenship required. Must be able to meet and maintain eligibility for U.S. Secret Clearance and be able to access military facilities, naval shipyards, and private shipyards.
