Job Title: Play/Musical Director Assistant
Location: Perry High School
Position Available: Fall 2026
Working Days: After school practices and weekend shows.
Hours of Work: After school hours
Compensation: $4,540.00 - Per Perry Classroom Teachers Association negotiated agreement
Job Summary
Perry High School is seeking a passionate, organized, and creative individual to serve as the Fall Play/Musical Director. This supplemental position leads and manages all aspects of the school's theater program, including productions, student development, and collaboration with staff and the community. The ideal candidate will inspire student engagement, foster artistic growth, and uphold a high standard of performance and professionalism.
Key Responsibilities
Plan, organize, and direct all theatrical productions (e.g., fall play, spring musical)
Select appropriate scripts and secure performance rights
Lead auditions, casting, and rehearsals while promoting an inclusive environment
Oversee all production elements, including set design, costumes, lighting, sound, and stage management
Collaborate with school staff, volunteers, and community members to support productions
Manage the theater budget, including fundraising efforts if needed
Supervise and mentor students in both performance and technical theater roles
Ensure compliance with school policies and safety regulations
Coordinate performance schedules, publicity, and ticket sales
Attend meetings and communicate regularly with administration and stakeholders
Qualifications
Minimum Required Qualifications:
Previous experience directing theater productions, preferably at the high school or community level
Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills
Knowledge of stage production, including technical theater components
Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends
Teaching certification is preferred but not required (based on district guidelines)
