Responsibilities

Provide individual and group counseling sessions focused on academic advising, behavioral health, mental health counseling, and childhood development.

Assist students in developing personalized plans to achieve academic goals and overcome personal obstacles.

Manage behavioral issues through effective behavior management strategies and conflict management techniques.

Collaborate with teachers, parents, and external agencies such as child protective services and child welfare organizations to support student needs.

Administer standardized testing and interpret results to inform educational planning and interventions.

Support students dealing with social-emotional challenges by offering culturally sensitive counseling, including social work and diversity counseling.

Maintain detailed records of counseling sessions, behavioral incidents, and progress reports while ensuring confidentiality and compliance with school policies.

Requirements

Proven experience working with children and students in educational or counseling settings.

Strong communication skills to effectively engage with students, parents, teachers, and community partners.

Knowledge of special education principles, conflict management strategies, classroom experience, and behavior management techniques.

Background in behavioral health, mental health counseling, childhood development, or social work is highly desirable.

Familiarity with standardized testing procedures and child protective services protocols.

Certification or licensure in school counseling, mental health counseling, or related fields is preferred.

Ability to demonstrate cultural sensitivity and provide inclusive support tailored to diverse student populations.
