VP of Revenue Cycle

On-site in Louisville, KY. Direct Hire Opportunity.
The Vice President of Revenue Cycle is responsible for the strategic leadership, direction, and performance of all revenue cycle operations. This role oversees end-to-end processes including patient access, coding, billing, collections, and denial management to optimize revenue, ensure compliance, and enhance the overall financial health of the organization.
Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

Develop and execute revenue cycle strategies aligned with organizational goals
Identify opportunities to improve cash flow, reduce denials, and increase net revenue
Establish KPIs and performance metrics to monitor revenue cycle effectiveness
Lead process improvement initiatives and system enhancements
Operational Oversight

Oversee all revenue cycle functions including patient access, registration, coding, billing, AR follow-up, and collections
Ensure timely and accurate claims submission and reimbursement
Monitor and improve key metrics (DNFB, days in AR, clean claim rate, denial rates, etc.)
Implement best practices across all revenue cycle operations
Financial Performance

Drive revenue integrity and reimbursement optimization
Analyze financial data and trends to identify risks and opportunities
Partner with finance team on budgeting, forecasting, and reporting
Oversee payer contracts and reimbursement methodologies
Compliance & Risk Management

Ensure compliance with federal, state, and payer regulations (CMS, HIPAA, etc.)
Maintain strong internal controls and audit processes
Stay current on regulatory changes impacting revenue cycle operations
Leadership & Team Development

Lead and develop revenue cycle leadership team and staff
Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement
Provide training and mentorship to enhance team performance
Technology & Systems

Oversee revenue cycle systems and technology platforms (EHR, billing systems, clearinghouses)
Drive automation and digital transformation initiatives
Partner with IT to optimize system functionality and reporting capabilities
Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Business, Finance, or related field required
Master’s degree (MBA, MHA, or related) preferred
10+ years of progressive revenue cycle experience in healthcare
5+ years in a senior leadership role
Proven success improving revenue cycle performance and financial outcomes
Experience in hospital, health system, or large physician group environment
Deep understanding of revenue cycle operations and workflows
Knowledge of payer regulations, reimbursement methodologies, and coding standards
Experience with EHR/PM systems (Epic, Cerner, Meditech, etc.)
Strong financial analysis and reporting skills
