The Opportunity
We are seeking a Consultant Relations Director to lead coverage of institutional investment consultants across the Central U.S, based in Chicago. This role is responsible for building and deepening relationships with regional and national consulting firms, driving positive ratings and recommendations, and supporting institutional distribution across public and private market strategies.
Position Responsibilities:

Develop and execute a Central consultant coverage strategy aligned with firm priorities, focusing on ratings, buy‑list placements, and pipeline conversion.
Own relationships with key consulting firms and field consultants; schedule and lead meetings, briefings, education sessions, and due diligence.
Coordinate RFP/RFI responses, data requests, and due‑diligence questionnaires in partnership with Consultant Relations (CR), Product, RFP, Marketing, and Portfolio Management teams.
Deliver compelling consultant‑facing materials (presentations, strategy updates, investment thesis, performance context) with strict adherence to compliance.
Manage rating processes and timelines; track status, feedback, and outcomes in CRM; ensure follow‑ups and action plans are executed.
Serve as a subject‑matter liaison between consultants and investment teams; facilitate access to PMs/analysts and organize onsite/virtual diligence.
Monitor market trends and consultant research agendas; provide feedback to Product and Distribution on competitive positioning and product gaps.
Report activity, pipeline, and outcomes via CRM dashboards; maintain accurate contact maps across firm and field consultants.
Support national consultant initiatives and conferences; represent Manulife IM at industry events in the region.
Uphold Manulife IM’s values, risk management standards, and compliance requirements.
What Will Set You Up for Success

Proven experience (7‑10 years) covering institutional consultants in the Central region.
Strong relationships across Central consultant firms (e.g., Chicago‑centric firms and regional offices) and familiarity with national platforms.
Solid understanding of institutional products and vehicles: fixed income, equities, multi‑asset, alternatives/private markets; OCIO and delegated solutions.
Excellent communication and presentation skills; able to translate complex investment concepts for consultant audiences.
Project management discipline with the ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, and coordinate cross‑functional teams.
Proficiency with CRM (Salesforce or equivalent), and data/reporting tools.
Bachelor’s degree required; CFA/CAIA or progress toward a designation is a plus.

Travel Requirements

Approximately 30–50% travel within the Central region, with occasional national travel for consultant conferences and Boston on‑site meetings.
Compensation and Benefits

Salary range is expected to be between $100,000.00 USD – $173,300.00 USD.
The role is eligible for incentive compensation in addition to base salary, with payouts linked to individual and business performance and expressed as a multiple of base salary.
