Position Overview
Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a
Systems Engineer
to support an enterprise defense, space, and security program in St. Louis, MO; Seattle, WA; or El Segundo, CA. The customer is seeking individuals with expertise across model‑based systems engineering, requirements gathering, and system architecture to support a variety of training systems and warfighter capabilities for the Department of Defense.
Clearance
Secret required, SAP eligibility preferred.
Location
St. Louis, Missouri; Seattle, Washington; or El Segundo, CA (100% onsite, 9/80 schedule).
Responsibilities of the MBSE Engineer
Lead multidisciplinary engineering teams in designing and delivering systems that satisfy program objectives, including supporting product deliveries and participating in customer reviews.
Apply systems engineering expertise to establish, maintain, and continuously improve the project’s systems engineering methodology.
Contribute to the program’s Model‑Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) initiatives, ensuring digital engineering practices align with customer requirements.
Perform key systems engineering activities, including requirements decomposition, system architecture development, environmental analysis, specification creation, trade studies, program planning, interface management, risk management, certification planning and execution, verification and test planning, and overall system integration—capturing these activities in the MBSE model as appropriate.
Use collaborative, interdisciplinary methods to plan, design, develop, and validate complex system solutions.
Qualifications of the Engineer
Bachelors degree in related discipline and 4+ years of related systems engineering experience.
Active Secret security clearance, with SAP eligibility.
Experience with tactical / defense aircraft, mission system, and weapon system development.
Experience with software requirement and verification management.
Experience with verification and/or certification efforts (including supporting military safety critical and/or mission critical system hardware and software certification).
Experience with Model‑Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools, such as MSOSA or similar Systems Modeling Language (SysML)-compatible tool for systems architecture and model development.
Experience with DOORS, CAMEO (MSOSA), JIRA, Confluence.
Compensation for the Engineer
Total compensation based on experience level - $95,000-$125,000+ based on experience level.
