Job Description
This position is responsible for teaching Massachusetts Digital Literacy and Computer Science standards (DLCS), developing student knowledge and skills in the safe use of technology, and providing the Lead Technology Coordinator role support for student and staff technology needs.

Teaching duties will comprise approximately 2/3 of the position; the remaining 1/3 will focus on Technology Coordinator responsibilities, such as managing laptop inventory, coordinating with IT, and providing PD to teachers.

Responsibilities

Teach assigned computer science classes and support integration of DLCS lessons in homerooms.

Develop and implement a curriculum that meets individual student needs and interests.

Create an inclusive classroom environment that fosters learning.

Use diverse instructional techniques and media to meet student abilities.

Assess student progress, provide reports, and communicate with parents.

Maintain accurate records and adhere to district policies.

Diagnose and address learning challenges with district specialists.

Ensure the safety and security of students and equipment.

Enforce classroom behavior in a fair manner.

Supervise paraprofessionals and conduct written evaluations.

Participate in professional development and contribute to evaluations.

Attend building and district meetings.

Participate in school-sponsored activities.

Contribute to district decisions regarding budget, curriculum, and well‑being.

Maintain and improve professional competence.

As Lead Technology Coordinator:

Manage student laptop inventory and re‑image laptops as needed.

Assign laptops to students.

Coordinate with IT to replace broken devices.

Participate in IT PD for laptop support.

Participate in PD for SPS‑adopted technology tools.

Provide PD to teachers on technology tools.

Qualifications

Highly qualified with required competency in the content area.

Hold an appropriate educator license: Elementary, Instructional Technology, Technology Education, Digital Literacy and Computer Science, and grade level 1‑6 licensure from the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.

Bachelor’s degree with appropriate license, or

Master’s degree with appropriate content area license preferred and expected within 5 years.

Experience or familiarity with assisting students or teachers in the use of computers and technology.

Benefits and Salary
Salary:

$54,541 to $88,258 (Boston Unified Salary Schedule)

Full‑Year, Full‑Time position.
