The Opportunity
The Office of Financial Aid and Student Employment (FASE) relies on Applications Systems Analysts to maintain, optimize, and support the university’s financial aid systems. Analysts work closely with core student service lifecycle functions such as admissions, registration, and student accounts to recommend improvements to key business processes. The Application Systems Analyst II (ASA II) reports to the Assistant Director, Financial Aid Systems and provides day‑to‑day oversight, coordination, maintenance, and analysis of moderately complex business processes, ensuring core systems operate reliably and efficiently.
ASA II Responsibilities
Analyze, test, implement, and maintain financial aid management systems to meet functional business requirements.
Execute testing plans to ensure systems and technologies meet specifications, standards, and efficiency requirements.
Collaborate with financial aid staff for production support, training, and problem resolution.
Monitor compliance with established procedures and policies, investigate and resolve issues to optimize system performance.
Develop, coordinate, and deliver systems training for FASE staff.
Oversee and audit data within assigned systems.
Write and interpret applications and systems documentation to support program functions.
Provide technical information, analysis, and reporting in support of financial aid operations.
Participate actively in systems‑related projects.
Assist FASE financial aid systems leadership, CIT, and SSIT with technical needs for equipment management and inventory.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree with at least 2 years of relevant experience or equivalent education and experience.
Demonstrated skills in system testing to identify performance, data integrity, communication, and functionality issues.
Strong technology tool skills.
Experience providing technical training, direction, and guidance.
Proven ability to communicate, build relationships, and collaborate with administrative units to support financial aid goals.
Ability to work independently, think critically, exercise sound judgment, and meet established timelines.
Self‑motivated, well‑organized, and detail‑oriented.
Experience researching, analyzing, and interpreting technical information from diverse sources.
Ability to develop logical conclusions and implement practical solutions to complex technical and business problems.
Ability to learn and apply new technical knowledge.
Capability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
Experience working directly with people from diverse socioeconomic backgrounds.
Preferred Qualifications
One or more years of experience in higher education with PeopleSoft or another administrative system.
PeopleSoft or alternative system certification/training.
Knowledge of Cornell’s student/administrative systems and processes.
Experience with Student Finance System, PeopleSoft Financial Aid, Kuali Financial Systems, OBIEE dashboards or answers, Filemaker, ImageNow, Qualtrics, SharePoint, or Drupal.
Fluency in English and a second language.
