Job Description – Heavy Duty Diesel Mechanic (2600010O)

Responsibilities

Promote safety – prioritize safety throughout operations in accordance with MSHA and Vulcan standards.

Repair and maintain mobile equipment – service, repair, adjust, and test all mobile equipment used throughout the plant to maximize performance and limit downtime.

Inspect equipment and material – inspect all mobile equipment to identify and troubleshoot errors. Perform repairs to address problems.

Handle and move objects – handle, install, position, and move parts, materials, and industrial hand tools safely throughout the shop and plant.

Document and record information – ensure correct and accurate documentation daily and monthly regarding all mobile equipment. Enter and maintain service reports.

Operate equipment – assist in driving heavy equipment and vehicles throughout the plant when necessary to ensure production continues efficiently.

Perform general physical activities – climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling materials.

Additional responsibilities – other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Knowledge of best practices – general principles and practices of servicing heavy construction equipment.

Flexibility – willingness to work overtime, extended hours, outside in all weather, and tolerance of loud noise.

Mechanical skills – knowledge of industrial tools, their uses, and maintenance.

Covered by Local 150 collective bargaining agreement.

Union contract salary scale between $51.75 to $53.75 hourly for experienced candidates.
