Nesco Resource is in search of a Structural Engineer to join our client’s team in Lincoln, RI.
Position Summary
The Structural Engineer will support the Lead Design Engineer in designing structures responsible for mounting ceiling-suspended operating room equipment, including surgical lights, anesthesia booms, and air circulation systems. This requires integrating supplemental steel and other materials into steel or concrete framework. A strong understanding of designing secondary structures and systems is crucial for this position. The ideal candidate will be proficient in Autodesk Inventor software including SolidWorks, Revit, AutoCAD and Fusion 360, and have experience reading and analyzing structural plans. Familiarity with Building Information Modeling (BIM) is required.
Key Responsibilities
Assist Design Engineers with creating 3D models/assemblies of mounting structures for operating room equipment such as anesthesia booms, surgical lights, exam lights, air diffuser systems.
Assist Design Engineers with creating 2D technical drawings equipped with information necessary for the hospital, fabrication company, install crew and PE.
Consult the BIM either provided by our company or the client along with the design specifications and parameters set by the client or the design engineers for creating as-built structures.
Ensure fasteners and building materials meet design/loading specifications, carrying out calculations as necessary.
Create a bill of materials for each assembly/mount design for ordering / inventory purposes.
Required Skills
Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering along with 2+ years of experience.
Demonstrated experience with creating parts and assemblies with Autodesk Inventor, SolidWorks or other equivalent 3D modeling software.
Determining/ensuring building materials are appropriate for the design specifications and/or loading requirements by carrying basic calculations.
Preferred Skills
Minor or concentration in Civil or Structural Engineering; familiarity with HVAC, electrical, or architectural design or engineering.
Has worked with building materials such as Sikla Framo, Unistrut, Steel I Beams either by assembling them physically or using SolidWorks.
Experience with using FEA or Autodesk Robot Structural for conduction virtual mechanical tests on parts or assemblies.
Experience with using Revit, AutoCAD or Navisworks to design building framework or for BIM and project organization.

Schedule: 1st shift, Monday – Friday, 9am – 5pm (OT available on as needed basis).
Salary range: $70 – $100K depending on education and experience.
