What We're Doing
Ground Missile Defense (GMD) is the heart of the Missile Defense System and a key element of our nation’s defense against ballistic missile attacks. The GMD Weapon System (GWS) processes data from multiple sensors to identify and characterize inbound ballistic missile threats, plans the best defensive solution, and launches intercepting missiles to negate the threat.
The Work
The selected Engineer will support the Ground Weapons System (GWS) program as an individual contributor on the SPA team. This role is responsible for developing data‑analysis products that directly support the design and development of the GWS capability on behalf of the Missile Defense Agency (MDA).
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM discipline from an accredited university and 8 years of related experience, or a Master’s Degree in STEM and 6 years of related experience, or 5 years of experience with a PhD in STEM.
Recent and extensive MATLAB and Python experience/proficiency.
Proven experience in developing, prototyping, and evaluating complex algorithms.
Extensive background in mathematics or science.
Must be able to support an in‑person/closed‑area work environment.
Applicants must have a current active in‑scope DoD‑issued Secret security clearance at the time of application, which is required to start.
Desired Skills
Experience with the MDA GMD program.
Advanced degree in Mathematics or Physics.
Unix/Linux Operating System experience.
Experience with planning/scheduling algorithms.
Experience with sensor modeling, communication modeling, and/or missile modeling.
Battle Management or Fire Control experience.
Experience with Linux, scripting, and operations.
Strong technical presentation skills.
Demonstrated ability to rapidly learn and absorb new concepts.
