About the role
The role of the Manufacturing Excellence Lead is to eliminate process losses on equipment or areas, to support the line team, create process standards, and coach using standard tools to perform problem‑solving. The MXL is responsible for implementing and/or maintaining, and continuously improving, the daily management systems (DMSs) they own in their area, typically the centerline (CL) and changeover (CO) DMS.
Shift Hours
Monday - Friday 7:00am - 4:00pm with flexibility
Key Responsibilities
Role model high standards in safety, GMP/housekeeping, and decision‑making.
Actively participate in line daily direction setting (DDS) meetings and in the execution of the daily plan, including reporting on the following results for the previous 24 hours: Centerline (CL) completion and compliance; Changeover (CO) adherence to plan and critiques.
Identify, prioritize, and eliminate process losses.
Build process capability and control.
Provide feedback to design and lead smart standardization deployment.
Define equipment standards.
Lead the change management (CM) and validation processes.
Lead and build capability of process failure technical troubleshooting.
Lead the process of benchmarking and reapplication.
Design, implement, and maintain systems to collect and analyze data for critical product and process parameters.
Use this data to identify process losses.
Work with line management to prioritize improvement opportunities.
Eliminate or reduce prioritized losses through process or work system changes.
Participate in the daily direction setting (DDS) process – report results, flag issues, request resources.
Own critical daily management systems (DMSs), e.g., Run‑to‑Target (RTT) and centerlines.
Use reliability engineering and data analysis tools to drive centerline and loss elimination.
Standardize equipment and work processes; own the CM system for a designated process; update process control strategies and operating procedures as changes occur.
Share and reapply learnings across processes, modules, and sites.
Prepare and give training on process/equipment changes.
Develop through corporate and external training.
Take part in planned stops and rapid changeovers (RCO) flowing to the line, as needed.
Standardize and improve rapid changeovers (RCO).
Spend 80% of the time on the floor.
Become a technical expert for a designated process.
Qualify in all basic operating roles.
Coach and collaborate with line teams, site, and regional equipment or process owners.
Day shift with potential call‑in, off‑shift, night and weekend support, or flow to shift coverage as business requires.
About you
High school diploma or equivalent; a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial Manufacturing) or related field is essential.
At least 3‑5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
Certification in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or similar process improvement methodology preferred.
Demonstrated success in driving continuous improvement projects, particularly in high‑volume production.
Knowledge of regulatory and safety standards, e.g. ISO 9001 and safety protocols.
Ability to influence and inspire others, driving teams toward common goals.
Proven track record in developing team members and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
Ability to make informed decisions swiftly, focusing on measurable results.
Strong communication skills, including active listening and positive confrontation when necessary.
