Transmission Planner

Citizens Electric Corporation is seeking a Transmission Planner to provide electrical engineering support for the planning and operation of our transmission system. This position plays a key role in ensuring system reliability, supporting long-range planning efforts, and maintaining compliance with MISO and NERC standards.
Key Responsibilities
Develop, maintain, and analyze transmission system models using tools such as PSS®E
Perform steady-state and dynamic system studies and recommend solutions to current and future system needs
Support transmission planning criteria, facility ratings, and long‑range engineering plans
Prepare engineering analyses, project scopes, cost estimates, and technical reports
Coordinate with internal teams, consultants, MISO, NERC, and other external stakeholders
Support System Operations and assist with NERC compliance activities
Participate in on‑call rotation and outage response as required
Qualifications
Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering
PE license preferred
3+ years of related experience preferred
Experience with MISO or other RTOs and NERC standards strongly preferred
Proficiency in power system modeling software and Microsoft Office
Strong communication, analytical, and problem‑solving skills
Working Conditions
Primarily office‑based with periodic fieldwork in high‑voltage environments
Occasional travel, overtime, and emergency response required
