We are looking for a talented, driven, and highly organized Automation Design Engineer to support Reverse Logistics programs and expand our capabilities. As a Design Engineer you will oversee specific strategic level programs and initiatives, partnering with internal customers, 3rd‑party design houses, and onsite process engineers to automate activities across multiple platforms.
Your goal will be to ensure that associated projects are completed on time, within budget, and meet the objectives outlined by stakeholders. This includes partnering with technical teams to scope deliverables, perform data analysis, build robust business requirements documents (BRDs), develop KPI metrics, and conduct monthly business reviews that drive progress on project goals. You will also model operational processes, define program objectives and SLAs, and apply customer centricity to drive adoption and expansion.
As a Design Engineer you will find clear paths through roadblocks, provide escalation management, anticipate trade‑offs, and balance business needs versus technical constraints. You will take large, complex programs and break them into manageable pieces, develop functional and technical user stories, and deliver them successfully and timely. Maturity, high judgment, negotiation skills, analytical thinking, and leadership are essential to success in this role.
Key Job Responsibilities
Lead planning, execution, and delivery of multiple projects simultaneously.
Develop business requirements documents (BRDs), comprehensive project plans, timelines, and resource efficiency measurements.
Serve as primary point of contact for internal stakeholders (Technical Engineering, Operations, Commercials, Customer, and Finance leadership).
Regularly communicate project status, milestones, and risks, addressing concerns promptly.
Coordinate global monthly business reviews with associated metrics, narrative, and presentations.
Partner with reporting teams to develop new reporting and metrics to monitor efficiencies and SLA commitments.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
Experience carrying new design concepts through exploration, development, and deployment or mass production.
Experience in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Windows Operating Systems.
Experience with power management and power monitoring systems.
5+ years of Automation Design Engineering experience, using data and metrics to determine and drive improvements.
Experience owning program strategy, end‑to‑end delivery, and communicating results to senior leadership.
Preferred Qualifications
5+ years of project management in data centers or comparable critical infrastructure.
Knowledge of engineering documentation, electrical diagrams, and standard operating procedures.
Knowledge of building codes and regulations including Life Safety, BOCA, NFPA, NEC, or OSHA.
Experience in Data Center Engineering Operations with deep understanding of electrical and mechanical infrastructure.
Experience reading and interpreting construction specifications and drawings for all domains.
Experience using one or more of the following technologies (AutoCAD, Rhino, Revit, SolidWorks, Creo, SketchUp, KeyShot) to deliver high‑quality models and designs.
