Applications Technical Architect Supervisor

Salary Range: $79,268.80 – $118,913.60

JOB SUMMARY:

The Supervisor Application Technical Architect is responsible for architecting and designing comprehensive solutions and guiding the development teams to successful implementation of that architecture. The supervisor will play a crucial role in establishing the architectural vision and direction, supervise multiple teams in executing solutions, monitor emerging technologies, provide advice and guidance, and perform technology evaluations. This position will work closely with engineering teams and will play a key liaison/supervisory role between the various technology teams and evaluate and support existing technical solutions already in use across Milwaukee County to determine fit for purpose re‑usability.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Configures, runs, tests and maintains current applications, systems & solutions version upgrade at a senior level. Leads the process to model the data from a holistic approach while providing best practice guidance.

Converts requirements into technical specifications. Supports the architecture, creation, planning, installation, and implementation of interfaces and other integration as necessary. Primary support resource for ERP applications.

Supervise, mentor, & retain members in area of supervision, establish & maintain a professional culture, set up development strategies to promote high performing staff & work environment; Leads performance management process for area of supervision.

Practice strong personal management routines; effectively participates in the IMSD performance management process to drive goals & performance; Works effectively in a matrix environment & develop a culture of collaboration; Ensures IMSD reputation for solid delivery.

Ensures security, compliance and integrity of systems and data. Creates, implements, maintains, and tests DR procedures for applications. Ensures Change control and support ticketing processes are executed by defined procedures.

Ensure that the data resources support a strategy of trusted data. Support BI and reporting initiatives to create an end user reporting environment. Use a data driven approach to drive process improvement for all supporting activities.

Provides technology guidance to departments in the development of RFP, RFI, Bid, etc. Technical liaison in scoring received RFP, RFI, Bid, etc.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Current resident of the State of Wisconsin.

Possession of a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or related field.

At least one (1) year of experience in packaged applications; working knowledge of integrated ERP systems; high-level understanding of General Ledger’s receivable, payable and purchasing systems and the associated business practices.

At least one (1) year of supervisory experience in an Information Technology setting.

Advanced knowledge of all related computer and software applications, such as word processing and spreadsheets.

ITIL Foundation Certification preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Ensure a secure and compliant Microsoft 365 environment. Maintain Microsoft 365 best practices in terms of security, standards, features, and self‑service. Continuously monitoring deprecated features, vulnerabilities, and new platform changes. Read, write and comprehend simple instructions, reports, short correspondence and memos. Speak effectively before both internal and/or external groups. Read, analyze, and interpret safety rules, operating/maintenance instructions and procedure manuals, scientific/technical journals and procedures, government regulations, financial and legal documents. Make decisions of responsibility involving evaluation of information; decisions may require development or application of alternatives or precedents. Understand and follow instructions within limits of standard policy and procedures. Interpret and adapt to established practices and procedures using independent judgement to meet situations to which applications are not clearly defined.

TIME SPLIT:

40% - Microsoft 365 and Entra ID

40% - Atlassian Jira, Twilio SendGrid, SimpleTexting, eFax, Progress MOVEit, Canva, LegalServer, DocuSign, and other apps

10% - Coaching team and Administration

10% - Research, Emerging Tech, and Training

NOTE:
