MU Lanes & Games Events & Marketing Assistant
Position Summary: This recruitment will fill a part‑time (maximum 24 hours per week) Events & Marketing Assistant for the Memorial Union at Oregon State University. The role supports campus engagement through strategic event planning, marketing, and operational support, collaborating with campus partners to create and manage print, digital, and social media content; maintain accurate website and promotional information; and use basic market research to inform programming and outreach.

Responsibilities:

Plan and coordinate promotions, events, and advertising initiatives for the academic year to increase student engagement and awareness of MU Lanes & Games offerings, in collaboration with the MU Activities team.

Collaborate with the MU Creative Studio to design and implement print and digital advertisements throughout the MU and across campus such as signage, digital displays, and promotional materials, to ensure clear and consistent messaging.

Develop and maintain an annual marketing and events calendar to strategically plan, coordinate, and track promotions, programs, and key deadlines throughout the academic year.

Manage and maintain the MU Lanes & Games social media accounts, creating engaging content to promote events, services, and special programs.

Ensure the MU Lanes & Games website, hours, and promotional information are accurate, timely, and consistently updated to support effective customer communication.

Collect, analyze, and interpret market research data such as student feedback, participation levels, and engagement trends to evaluate options and inform strategic decisions related to programming, pricing, promotional timing, and outreach efforts.

Develop engagement activities for MU employees as a member of the MU committee, fostering connection, morale, and professional development.

Provide on‑shift support to staff during high‑demand or understaffed periods, using sound judgment to maintain safe, efficient operations and promote a collaborative team environment.

Required Qualifications:

Must be academically enrolled in a high school, community college, or university and pursuing a program or course of study.

Must meet Academic Standing Requirements; students on academic suspension are not eligible for employment.

Must meet the applicable minimal enrollment standard:

High School student: Regularly enrolled in a high school or participating in a home‑schooling program.

Undergraduate and post‑baccalaureate student: 6 credit hours per term.

Undergraduate international student: 12 credit hours per term.

Graduate student officially admitted to Graduate School: 5 credit hours per term.

Graduate international student officially admitted to Graduate School: 9 credit hours per term.

Must be able to work occasional nights, weekends, and finals week during the academic year.

Preferred Qualifications:

Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with peers, staff, and campus partners.

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to work independently, manage multiple responsibilities and deadlines without constant supervision.

Experience leading a team or group while working collaboratively, such as involvement in a student organization, club, class project, or previous leadership role.

Experience in marketing, event planning, communications, logistics, hospitality, or a related field.

Experience using social media platforms for organizational or promotional purposes.

Experience working in a customer service‑oriented environment.
