Position
Meteorologist – CBS Sacramento and Good Day
Overview & Responsibilities
Produce weather content and forecasts for on-air, streaming, online, and social media platforms.
Collaborate with the meteorology team, including the Chief Meteorologist, and support station strategy.
Create and deliver graphics, maps, and visualizations to communicate weather stories in a conversational way.
Maintain a strong social media presence and develop weather-related content for newscasts and other broadcasts.
Provide continuous live severe‑weather coverage across all programs and report on weather events such as wildfires, floods, and blizzards.
Engage as a team‑focused communicator, writing daily weather blogs and documenting weather stories.
Qualifications
On‑air weather casting experience within a TV station.
Degree in meteorology or related science; B.S. in Meteorology or Earth Sciences preferred.
Strong writing skills for broadcast and digital platforms.
Strong social media skills and a presence on multiple platforms.
Ability to use augmented reality in weather segments (bonus).
Ability to provide continuous live severe weather coverage across all programs.
Experience shooting and editing video.
Weather graphics production proficiency and knowledge of WSI weather system.
Knowledge of weather patterns and microclimates across Northern California and the Western U.S.
Valid driver’s license and clean driving record to operate a company vehicle.
At least three years of experience on‑air in weather casting and producing preferred.
Hiring Salary Range
$85,000.00 – $95,000.00
