Job Description Summary
The Surgical Pathology Service of the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine is seeking a Surgical/Gastrointestinal Pathology fellow for one year. The successful candidate will have completed an AP or AP/CP residency at an ACGME accredited institution and be board eligible.

Fellowship responsibilities include local examination and diagnosis of surgical pathology specimens, diagnostic surgical pathology, gastrointestinal biopsy sign-out, frozen section examinations, rush cases, and consultation cases (gastrointestinal, hepatic, and other organ systems). Fellows have opportunity to teach residents, medical students, and participate in interdepartmental conferences.

Qualifications

Completed AP or AP/CP residency at an ACGME accredited institution

Board eligible

Hold or be eligible for a South Carolina Medical License

Additional Duties

Participate in ongoing research projects with the section of Surgical Pathology.

Physical Requirements

Ability to lift and carry up to 15 lbs., unassisted.

Ability to maintain 20/40 vision, corrected, in one eye or with both eyes.

Ability to see and recognize objects close at hand.

Ability to see and recognize objects at a distance.

Ability to determine distance/relationship between objects; depth perception.

Good peripheral vision capabilities.

Ability to maintain hearing acuity, with correction.

Ability to perform gross motor functions with frequent fine motor movements.
