Position Summary
The Lab and Simulation Coordinator provides leadership, administration, and oversight of all nursing skills laboratory and simulation learning activities across all pre-licensure nursing programs. This role is responsible for ensuring high-quality, standardized, and evidence-based laboratory and simulation experiences that support student learning, clinical competence, patient safety, and program outcomes. The Coordinator collaborates closely with nursing faculty, program directors, and leadership to integrate lab and simulation experiences across the curriculum and align them with national standards, accreditation requirements, and the AACN Essentials (2021). Didactic teaching responsibilities are included in this role.

Responsibilities

Provide leadership and oversight for all nursing skills, laboratory, and simulation activities across pre-licensure programs, ensuring high-quality, consistent, and evidence-based learning experiences.

Collaborate with program directors, nursing faculty, and the Director of Academic Operations to design, implement, and evaluate lab and simulation activities, including evidence-based simulation scenarios and skills practice aligned with AACN Essentials (2021), ANA Code of Ethics, and program outcomes.

Attend planning meetings with nursing faculty and coordinate with the Director of Academic Operations regarding scheduling and use of campus lab facilities to ensure lab and simulation sessions are integrated smoothly with campus operations.

Maintain the master schedule for lab and simulation use, including open lab hours, course labs, simulation sessions, and cross-program utilization, in coordination with the Director of Academic Operations to prevent conflicts with campus events or resource allocation.

Ensure lab and simulation environments are adequately prepared, safe, and equipped with functioning technology, equipment, and consumables, and work with the Director of Academic Operations to address any campus-level facility or safety concerns.

Maintain inventory and ordering of lab supplies and equipment; develop and manage replacement and maintenance plans for simulation hardware and software, keeping the Director of Academic Operations informed of major needs impacting campus resources.

Provide support to lab instructors and student lab assistants, including orientation, training in simulation pedagogy and lab content delivery, performance feedback, and scheduling, while coordinating with the Director of Academic Operations on staffing assignments for campus lab operations.

Provide faculty development support in lab and simulation instruction, ensuring consistency across instructors and cohorts while aligning with program and accreditation standards.

Teach 2–3 (6–9 annually) sections per semester, as assigned, within pre‑licensure programs.

Collect and review assessment data related to lab and simulation learning, including student competencies, skills check‑offs, and simulation outcomes; provide recommendations to program directors and collaborate with the Director of Academic Operations if campus-wide implications arise.

Serve as a resource for simulation and lab instructional technology, including troubleshooting, updates, and training faculty on best practices.

Collaborate with program directors and the Director of Academic Operations to support quality improvement, accreditation compliance, and consistency across campus operations, without assuming the Director of Academic Operations’ responsibility for student conduct, campus facilities, or clinical placements.

Perform other duties related specifically to lab and simulation coordination, as required by program directors, coordinating with the Director of Academic Operations when campus-level support or resources are involved.

Qualifications

Master’s degree in nursing with a current and unencumbered NYS RN license.

At least 2 years of acute care hospital experience.

BLS credentialed, ACLS preferred.

Teaching experience preferred.

Strong computer and technology skills required.

Strong organizational skills required.

Excellent interpersonal communication skills.

Experience with Simulation.
