Now Hiring – Civil Construction Inspector
Site: Sitka, AK

Are you a Sitka resident with a background in civil construction or inspection? ProHNS LLC is seeking a seasonal Civil Construction Inspector who will ensure all construction conforms to project plans and specifications. Responsibilities include communicating regularly with the contractor’s foreman, inspecting excavation and fill operations, placement of forms for concrete, concrete mixing and pouring, asphalt paving, grading operations, utility removal/installation, and other activities. The Inspector will also handle measurement and tracking of pay item quantities, prepare source documents, and maintain Inspector Daily Reports to reflect construction progress.

Keys to Success

Perform duties and responsibilities in accordance with proHNS policies and procedures.

Coordinate with a team of engineers, inspectors, sub-consultants, and other representatives.

Experience working or inspecting on airport, highway, bridge, and/or marine projects.

At least three seasons of experience in construction, inspection, materials testing, construction surveying, or equivalent. Two seasons of experience may be substituted with formal education in construction management, construction technologies, or engineering.

Qualifications

AK‑CESCL or equivalent erosion and sediment control certification/experience preferred.

WAQTC or equivalent materials sampling and testing certification/experience, Nuclear density gauge certification, and experience preferred.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Valid U.S. driver’s license and good driving record.

Expectations

The typical work schedule is 40 hours per week, Monday–Friday, seasonally. Employees are required to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, overtime when needed, and attend after‑hours events such as local government public meetings.

Ability to work seamlessly in a team setting.

Willingness and ability to perform site visits and construction inspections in a variety of outdoor settings and climate conditions.

Physical requirements: regularly required to sit, talk and hear, stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel. Must occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.

Compensation and Benefits
Employees receive a competitive benefits package, including access to medical insurance plans with the employer paying 100% of the employee’s plan. Employees are eligible to participate in the company 401(k) plan with up to a 4% contribution from the employer. Additional benefits include paid time off, paid sick leave, paid holidays, and an annual performance bonus. The wage range for this position is $35–$50 per hour.
