Civil Engineering Lead (Irrigation) - (191270)
HDR, a leading engineering firm, is looking for an experienced irrigation leader to help grow its irrigation practice. The Civil Engineering Lead will coordinate, manage, and execute planning and design of hydraulic/irrigation focused civil design projects, leading a team of professionals in producing studies, designs, reports, plans, and specifications for a diverse range of hydraulic facilities and structures.

Responsibilities

Direct and coordinate work of single or multi‑discipline teams throughout the project's lifecycle (from development and initiation to close‑out).

Responsible for all aspects of complex small to medium projects or routine large projects.

Produce and coordinate several small to medium projects concurrently.

Establish and maintain client relations, and participate in marketing, contractual, design and production meetings.

Conduct work sessions for deliverable development in conjunction with other staff and stakeholders.

Coordinate staffing and workload through the entire project life cycle, and ensure completion of deliverables on schedule.

Track financial aspects of projects, and coordinate and adjust work effort with the team to ensure that work is completed within the parameters of the agreed‑to budget and schedule.

Work with Accounting, Operational and Business leadership for periodic project reviews.

Implement QA/QC procedures.

Perform other duties as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

10+ years civil engineering experience, emphasis on design and irrigation preferred.

Committed to quality, improvement and HDR values.

Experience in planning studies, design, and irrigation.

Excellent writing and communication skills.

Maintains a professional or engineering registration and has related technical experience in development and management of diverse teams.

Ability to work independently and as part of a project team.

Experience with planning, design, and construction of water storage reservoirs, pumping plants, river diversions, conveyance and control facilities, hydropower, and erosion control is desirable.

Will work independently as well as plan, organize and supervise work of medium‑to‑large teams of professionals and technicians dependent on project/task.

Desirable experience includes business development related to irrigation projects and working with irrigation districts, the Bureau of Reclamation, the Natural Resources Conservation Service, and the Bureau of Indian Affairs and Tribes.

Proven ability to mentor and supervise staff is desired.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Engineering.

7 years related experience.

A minimum of 2 years project management experience.

Professional Engineer (PE or P.Eng) license.

MS Office and MS Project experience is required; Access experience would be plus.

Demonstrated leadership skills.
